Audio Junkazoid
March 2025
I love audio. It’s like so cool. And for the last five or so years I have attempted to create alright sounding audio in the form of goofy little music tracks. What started in a little music program called Bosca Ceoil, slowly moved to Bandlab’s browser based DAW and then to GarageBand with the purchase of an iPad. Since then I have failed to graduate any further than Apple’s famous bedroom beats buddy and now have over 800 separate tracks. Creating music with no formal training felt immediately like a losing game- I had no idea where to start and what made things sound good. I still don’t. But, inextricably, I manage to spend hours daily tapping away building tunes. Many, if not all, sound exactly the same but the process is so immensely rewarding I’d almost go as far to say it is addicting (In a good way I assure you). It is in this way that I emplore any and all others to give music creation a go- in whatever form they can. As with any creative endeavour it will be tremendously fustrating as you desparately try to carve out the exact idea your mind’s eye sees (or hears) so clearly, and most of the time you never truly reach that. But when you get close… that’s the gold dust. Don’t be scared to make garbage either, hell I’d hazard to say almost all of those 800 tracks of mine are only “good sounding” to myself. But really, that’s all that matters. (But if other people like it too, well it can’t hurt).
So go on, dear reader, go on and start creating. I’m looking forward to hearing what you make.
Psssst! And if you want to hear what I am currently working on right this second, here is a little sneak peek!
